Big

I am watching Big right now. For those few that haven't seen it, it stars Tom Hanks as a child who makes a wish to be big, so he wakes up as a grown up, but still has his 12 year old mind.
It just got to the scene where he gets lucky with Elizabeth Perkins and I couldn't help thinking how differently the scene would be received if the roles had been reversed, if a 12 year old girl had become a woman and had sex with an adult man.

I know everyone loves Big, but I remember thinking (from a young age) that the premise is colossally fucked up, essentially.
Child doesn't really have a childhood = bad.
He goes through getting a job, living in the city by himself, and having sex, before he's, what, 12?
Still. The piano scene is good.

Isnt 13 Going On 30 more or less the exact premise you refer to?

Yes, but she doesn't have sex with an adult during that movie. That was my point. If she had, would it have been received as well as the scene in Big was or would people have been outraged that the movie was showing a 13 year old girl having sex with a 30something year old man?

If I recall right, and it has been some time, in "Big" they don;t have sex, and Elizabeth Perkins character remarks on that the next day in the office.
in "13 Going on 30", same premice (kid in adult world), but she finds herself as an adult. In otherwords, her 13 year old self in her adult body, that has a whole history. Tom Hanks was a kid turned into an adult.

I'm pretty sure they do have sex. They had been dating for a while, they go back to her place, she starts to take off her top, exposing her bra, she turns off the light, he turns the light back on, the camera cuts to the office the next day with him skipping through the office and ordering coffee.
In 13 Going On 30, she never has sex. Her adult self has, but once the child inhabits the adult body, they make it clear that she is unwilling.
