VENT.

A temporary board while I'm working out issues with the real WD.

The posts made here will not appear on the real WD when it re-opens.

Please note that I won't be providing any technical support for this board, as I would prefer to focus my attention on fixing the other board. So, if you're confused by anything, just try to figure things out, search the phpBB forums, ask other users for help, or just bear with it.

Er, why exactly? The only reason that's coming to mind is because you're a woman, but I'm sincerely hoping I got the wrong end of the stick here, because I can't seriously believe there are professional people out there like that.

I think one of my married friends just hit on another married friend. In public. I am SO GROSSED OUT RIGHT NOW. Even if he wasn't hitting on her, he complimented her in the smarmiest, most inappropriate manner. I need a shower. (OK, I needed one anyway, but my lack of personal hygiene is a separate rant.)

Mystifying. I would have thought our sex's ability to take messages was undisputed, even though, as a mere woman, of course you couldn't possibly be expected to understand what the message meant.

More seriously, "eavestroughs" are what we call "gutters"? I like it.

:o Wow. That's just. Wow. I guess, as a single woman, it's a good thing I live in a townhome & the association takes care of that sort of thing, since I'm obviously incapable of handling something as complex as choosing home maintenance repairmen.

argh!
so in my infinite stupidity I used the free turbotax system to file my taxes this year. After way way too much waiting I went back to it to figure out why I hadn't seen my refund. Apparently when I hit the file button back then it didn't fully file them, it just gave me the impression it did. Who knows if finishing it now is going to have any effect

I think you'll probably be okay. I didn't file for about three years, even though I was due a refund. When I contacted the IRS about it, they assured me that they would still send the refund(s) once they received the proper documentation. I want to say they'll go back as far as seven years, but I may not be remembering correctly.

We need new eavestroughs. Had a guy come to give a quote today. Fortunately, I have the flexibility in the summer to work at home. He was an hour late. Then he refused to give me the quote without my husband present. Fucker. Lost my business.
I think I read somewhere (actually, I think in the comments on someone's livejournal, who had this same problem, but I don't remember whose) that landscapers, home workers etc. will not do that unless both people in whose name the house is are present because of legal issues for all owners and workers being on the same page about what work is supposed to be done in what way. Like it's a standard legal issue and not a sexist thing. I think I've heard of it for men whose wives are not present too. But, you know, obviously that is pretty infuriating anyway, not sayin' it's a good rule.
